Our Genealogy Research Process

Free Consultation

At Blue Eagle Genealogy, we offer a free initial consultation to all our clients. After receiving the initial inquiry, we'll ask for as much information as possible to assess the feasibility of the project. An initial search will then be carried out to see if enough documents are available for a successful research. If we're unable to find anything, we'll inform the client immediately, and no charge will be made.

Undertaking the Research

Once we receive the 50% deposit, we will begin the research according to the agreed requirements. We will provide regular progress updates during the project. Once we've completed the research, we'll inform the client that the documentation is ready and issue an invoice for the final balance of the fees due. The report will be dispatched within 7 days of receiving the final payment.

Code of Ethics: At Blue Eagle Genealogy, we adhere to the Register of Qualified Genealogists' code of ethics, which can be found on their website.

Payments

Clients can pay for the services by bank transfer or credit/debit card. We'll send an invoice to the client by email.

Liability

 We strive to provide accurate genealogical research, but the occasional inaccuracy may occur due to the illegibility of records, various spellings, and transcription inaccuracies. If any inaccuracies are due to errors on our part, we'll correct the error and revise the documentation at no extra cost. However, if any errors or omissions are found to be the result of inaccuracies in the initial information provided by the client, the research report will be corrected and reprinted for an additional fee.

Terminating the Contract

If the client wishes to terminate the research contract, a written request must be sent to our email. We'll calculate the amount of work already completed and invoice the client at a rate of £35 per hour plus any extra costs such as document fees. Upon receipt of payment, all documentation will be forwarded to the client. Please note that all documentation remains the property of Blue Eagle Genealogy until payment is received.
